Album Notes

Bobby Martin, artist, arranger and producer, has become a major force in the music industry.
His contributions to the success of The Sound Of Philadelphia is legendary.
As an artist, Bobby Martin's success is that of Philadelphia's "MFSB", "B" as in Bobby and the sound that made him a Grammy Award Winner and recipient of many gold records.
Once again, his Philadelphia family of musicians provides the basis for the new Bobby Martin project.

The Freinds Of Distinction.
Rolling Stone called their music "Something Priceless" but the public paid the price and gave Gold record status to The Friends Of Distinction, Floyd Butler and Harry Elston for such hits as "Grazin' In The Grass", "Goin' In Circles" and "Love or Let Me Be Lonely" and an international audience came to know them through their highly acclaimed television, concert and club appearances all over the world.

Jean Terrell, the dynamic vocalist who as lead singer carried the famed "Supremes" through seven major hit singles before motherhood brought about a hiatus, returns to the recording world and the public eye, still a supreme talent, with an exciting new future and recording career through producer Bobby Martin.

A Bobby Martin discovery, Drake Frye is a new artist at the neginning of an important recording career.
In addition to the two songs he sings on this CD, Drake is the writer of "I Hear Love Drummin' A Beat" and "Captain Of A Sinking Ship".
His extensive background in writing, arranging and record production, as well as performing, makes him a most exciting artist.

Little Dooley is a wonderful singer. He did a great job on both of these songs. He always connects with his audience.

For this release, Bobby Martin sought out the Legendary Mixer, Tom Moulton and asked him to remix and re-master these incredible recordings. Tom jumped at the opportunity to work with one of the masters and what you hear is the result of a labor of love and respect for the music.

Producer's note: The liner notes incorrectly indicate these recordings were done at A&M Studios in Hollywood CA with Los Angeles musicians.

All the recordings on this album were actually recorded at Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia, PA with the full Philly Soul / TSOP rhythm section and orchestra. The very same musicians that have played on all of Bobby Martin's Gold and PlatInum Recordings.

Very Pleased

1. I want to thank CD Baby for the quick delivery of the CD I purchased. 2. I liked the CD very much, especially the songs "The Train" (both versions), "You're a Special Part of My Life", "Midnight Walking" and "Memories". 3. It's always great listening to Ms. Jean Terrell but in "I Feel Love Drummin' a Beat", I feel she held back on the vocals. Or is that my player is not working right? 4. Maybe Mr. Martin should do a CD featuring Ms. Terrell? Thanks.

Jean Terrell is fabulous on all of her three tracks on this CD. What a wonderful complilation of artists. Jean sings so effortlessly yet so emotionally. She is magnificent. I also enjoyed the haunting sound of "Captain of a Sinking Ship" and the joyful sound of "Memories." The entire CD is extraordinary, and I am glad that I purchased three copies: one for the first floor of my house, one for the second floor and one for my car. Please, more music from these very talented artists!

I was so elated to see Jean Terrell 's name amongst the soulful group that graces BOBBY MARTIN's new CD....Jean sounds terrific on the 3 tracks that she is featured on. I really enjoy the opening track on this CD by FRIENDS of Distinction . Everything is quite polished and soulful. on track number eight I'd sware I hear the Sweethearts of Sigma...I don't see who is credited with the vocals on that track on the liner notes . I assume it's Carla Bensen on that track...anyway I will keep playing this new addition to my soul collection until I am familiar with all of the various talent included on this collection. Welcome back Jean Terrell.....long time no hear...
