Bob Finch believes in emphasizing what is common to the faith of all Christians. He loves the message, stories, and poetry of the Bible and enjoys setting the scriptures to music. This collection of 12 songs contains some of the best work by Bob and demonstrates his professional skills in writing, singing, performing and musical arrangements.
His style is Contemporary Christian with an influence of Folk-Americana.
With the exception of Lead Guitar on “The Passion Psalm”, Bob Finch performed all vocals and instruments on this recording.
Bob is from a military family and claims Kilbourne, Louisiana as his home. His family moved between San Antonio, Texas, and Anchorage, Alaska, with a final assignment to Washington, D.C. When his father retired from the Air Force, they settled in Monroe, Louisiana, where Bob graduated from high school and went on to earn a degree in music education from the University of Louisiana. Bob moved to Southeast Texas to teach school and met his wife, Kathy, in a college poetry class. They are now both school district administrators and have three daughters and three grandsons.
Bob began singing at church before he was old enough to attend school. His early music education and first performances were in the Southern Baptist churches in which his family was actively involved. He was attracted to folk music in the mid-60’s and taught himself to play guitar. Soon after, he began writing music, and later studied music composition in college. His music experiences are varied and include performances of major choral works with orchestra; formal concerts in the Washington, D.C. area at Wolftrapp Farm Park, the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, and the National Cathedral; folk groups, rock bands, big bands, musical theater, light opera, and college concert and show choirs and marching, concert, and jazz bands.
Bob has been a director of music in churches (Baptist, Disciples Of Christ, Episcopal, and at the Catholic Church where he has been on staff for twenty-one years) since he was in high school. He was confirmed as an Episcopalian in 1979.
The music on this CD will be an excellent addition to every Christian’s musical library.
