A Must Have!
author: Earbuzz.com
The Fabulous Baker Boys did not have it as good as Bob Malone - true, the Baker's singer was sultry.. sexy.. with a voice that could melt a heart. - but Bob Malone has teamed with THE Renee Safier - and Safier has a vocal gift from heaven, with her sensual smooth (yet delightfully rough at times) tone and artistic line direction in her performances. Here, assembled for your pleasure, are 11 torch tune beauties, that provide Safier with about as ideal an environment to showcase her own sultry.. sex.. voice - the type of voice that could not only melt a heart, but perhaps the entire polar ice cap. (you thought global warming was co2 - don't you believe it). The record includes the ample instrumental talents of Bob Malone, who's comping and touch on the pearlies is a compliment to Renee's interpretations. Bob also provides the occasional vocal contributions that land halfway between Tom Waits and Buster Poindexter - a nice contrast to Renee's seemingly innocent delivery. Highlights include, "Embraceable You"; "Why Don't You Do Right"; a wonderful "Our Love is Here to Stay", and the best - last - in track 11's, "One For My Baby", where Malone and Safier emerge as a tremendous musical team as the sing 'one for the road' - all mp3'd here as clips. Pure Magic Music, more fabulous and two less than a Baker's dozen.
