It's been said that jazz is one of the truly American gifts to the world. Anywhere you may go there will somebody who enjoys jazz, as Bob Mocarsky found out in the most recent chapter in his musical life. For the past several years he's been at the piano in places like Beijing, Bangkok, and Hong Kong playing jazz for the locals and the internationals at some of the most stylish clubs and hotels in Asia.
After a long stint as a prominent San Francisco musician, Bob has been in the company great musicians from around the planet, all enjoying the Asian hospitality extended to fine jazz. If you've heard Bob in Shanghai, it might have been with a Russian bassist and Korean drummer or maybe a French bass player and Chinese drummer, all admiring Bob's beautiful pianisms, tasteful repertoire, and wonderful musical personality.
The new "Bob Mocarsky Trio" compact disc celebrates a new chapter in Bob's musical travels, his arrival in New York City. It features two of the Apple's finest jazz practicioners, bassist Sante Debriano and drummer Billy Drummond. The program of standards, jazz classics, and Bob's originals testify to an ability to walk into the world's center of jazz and sound right at home.
Home originally for Bob was Hartford, Connecticut where he studied piano with his dad, Edmund Mocarsky, one of that city's esteemed piano teachers. You can hear all of that close training in Bob's great command of his instrument. In his 20's he ventured to San Francisco, and before he left for Asia in 2001, he had performed, recorded, and toured with many of the Bay Area's top musical attractions including Bobby McFerrin, Eddie Henderson, Pete & Sheila Escovedo and international stars including Patti Austin, Rickie Lee Jones, Marlena Shaw, and Mark Murphy.
You'll find more about Bob's music and travels on his website www.amaranthpublishing.com/BobMocarsky.htm as well as www.myspace.com/bobmocarsky The new CD is available through www.cdbaby.com.

Bob has a way with a melody that comes from a place only few from my generation ( fusion guys )draws upon. If Bill Evans were to meet Jan Hammer and go to hear Bob play they invariably would say " why didn't i think of that? " Bob's CD is only a snapshot of how good he really is !
