Album Notes

The first commercially available release from Bodhisattva Jones, Emotion Controlled Oscillator is an intimate, lush soundscape driven by subtle, yet funky rhythms and cinematic textures inspired by the beautiful Portland rain. Elements of jazz, ambient, and Brazilian and Afro-Cuban music suffuse the disc with a heartfelt, personal aura which grows with each track and each successive listen.

Bodhisattva Jones is the virtual band masterminded by Portland, Oregon multi-instrumentalist Michael Allen Whipple. Combining acoustic, electronic and virtual instruments within a digital production environment, Bodhi Jones strives to make holographic mental images through the medium of music. Or something like that.

Ahhhh

As we reached the coast to begin our trip down California Highway 1, my friend asks if I have anything in the car that was electronic. I did, this disc from Michael. I had listened to it several times before that, but coming over a hillside just north of Mendicino while listening to Traveling Without Moving, ah, I would have sworn he was on that road when he wrote that piece. That moment was magic, one of those when all of your senses at once are full. This CD became the soundtrack to our journey, and I could not imagine a better one, a beautiful soundtrack for a magical trip. Thank you, Michael.
