The Bogside Zukes - Excellent Swimmers All
author: Mike Pingleton
Another great release from the Bogside Zukes. Newcomer John Parker has settled right in on fiddle, and the band's sound remains bright and tight. The Zukes offer a variety of ballads, shanties, jigs and reels, something for everyone. Blackberry Blossom features some tasty guitar work - I can't wait to hear that one live! I like all of the tracks but I think Whiskey in the Jar, Irish Rover and Rant and Roar are outstanding. Matt Coker's energized vocals in part define the Zuke's characteristic sound, and Tom Abbott spreads his talent beyond the bass to the mandolin, accordion and guitar. What's missing from Sink or Swim? Only the clink of glasses and the sound of people having a good time (blatant nudge for a live Zukes recording). You'll have a good time with Sink or Swim!
