Album Notes

Listen to the joyous, souldful music on this recording, and you'll hear that music composed between 1902 and 1939 can sound as fresh and exciting today as it did 100 years ago! Notice how the Boilermaker Jazz Band takes song with diverse themes, styles and rhythms, and transforms them to fit the band and their audience. The music flows effortlessly from swing to boogie woogie to a latin beat.

"Paul Cosentino's clarinet takes on a soulful, sometimes mournful, mahogany sound, which works well with the music... the outcome is an exciting, sprited, fun- filled session." -Dave Nathan, www.allaboutjazz.com

"Paul Cosentino knows his way around the clarinet... the patented vibrato and intese feeling for the music... his tone is warm and woodsy...The Boilermaker's program is a delightful mix of tunes filled with charming twists and turns... the results are uniformly top gun!"
-Cam Miller, American Rag

A cozy time in the good oldfashioned way
author: Carl M. Nielsen

This is a fine album, full of great tunes. Fun and good time aproach blends with a touch of sentimentality and dreamers delight. Makes a very apropriate background when you're thinkin' about your secret love. Well- "Secret Love" is a tune you wont find on the album. But there's a lot of others, such as "You Tell Me Your Dream" and "Easy Living". A joyfull time with fullfiling straight ahead music.

Great early jazz sounds with spectacular clarinet playing

I simply adore this CD. It makes me feel as though I've stepped into a time machine and traveled back to the early 20th century where red hot jazz put a bounce in everyone's step. However, since the group is modern and the medium is CD, the sound is fabulous and clear! I particularly enjoy the clarinet playing. Standout numbers for me are "Did I Remember?", "If I Had You" and "Little Grass Shack" - but I can listen to this CD the whole way through over and over again without ever getting tired of it.
