Fantastic music, perfect for dancing Balboa to
author: Phill Jenkins
The swing scene in Melbourne Australia is alive and well and the music on this album is just perfect for dancing, especially Balboa. Having said that it is a great album just to listen to and I can't recomend both the album and the band too much. Come on down and visit us sometime!

Superlative

There's no question in my mind that the BMJB is one of the best living swing bands in the world. Paul and the boys channel the feelings of classic Benny and Louis (for example) without ever sounding like a tribute or nostalgia group. Jennie Luvv joined the band several years ago and I watched her develop into her own style and chops. On this album you can hear her performing classic tunes in her own unique voice and style that plays off perfectly against Paul's vocals and the tight rhythm section.
****
I heard this band several times a month for the four years I lived in Pittsburgh and the music was absolutely always fresh. The music LIVES.
****
With each year, each performance, my jaw drops further as the BMJB push ever on towards the stratosphere. They have thousands of rabid fans in Pittsburgh and swing dance communities the world over.
****
My grandmother, Mary, grew up during the swing era and she knows what classic jazz is supposed to sound like. I sent her this disc and she told me recently -- one year later -- that she listens to it every day. When I sent her the link to the new album, she wrote me back immediately to say she'd purchased it.
****
Be sure to get "The Mood I'm In" and the new album, 2006's "You Do Something to Me," which may be even better than this disc.
****
As an added treat, all of the BMJB albums from "Mood" onward sport the impeccable design of Studioluxe, vocalist Jennie Luvv's graphic design firm.

Wonderful mix of classic jazz & swing standards
author: Don Hawel
In a very short time, this CD has gone from being something I stumbled on during my endless searches for classic jazz to becoming my favorite CD... period.
I can't remember another recording that sustained my interest over so many repeated listenings. Each time I hear it, I discover some fresh nuance, melodic twist, or vocal phrasing that I had not noticed before.
"Give Me Your Telephone Number Vol. 2" would be at the top of my wish list! There are still several chestnuts left in the American Songbook that could do with a dusting off by the Boilermaker Jazz Band.
