Album Notes

When my niece was born I didn't want to buy her a dress that she would grow out of in two months. I wanted to give her the most perfect, lasting, and sentimental gift, so I eventually came up with the idea to record these songs for her on a tape. That little tape eventually grew into this project.

This CD is a soothing collection of lullabies: traditionals, spirituals, jazz, and country. I looked for unusual material - a cowboy composed one of the lullabies to sing his cows to sleep - and I wanted every song to have some meaning for me. Some of them were sweet, or appealed to my sense of humor (Trust in Me), but most of them made me sentimental and reminded me of my childhood. My desire was that this project would be simple and real and my focus was on quality.

I presently live in Madison, Wisconsin. I've been singing and performing for over 10 years, have studied opera in college and in France. My hobbies are singing, singing, and traveling. I sincerely hope that you enjoy listening to this CD as much as I enjoyed making it!
