Album Notes

Based in Los Angeles, Bomar is the musical and marital duo of Scott and Melanie Bomar. Their folky country-flavored roots rock combines the melodic influences of Tom Petty and the Byrds with the vivid lyrical images of Lucinda Williams, Bruce Springsteen or Patty Griffin.

Guitarist, drummer and songwriter Melanie met writer and guitarist Scott in Nashville in the mid-90's. In 1997, inspired by several days of hanging out in the recording studio with Steve Earle, they decided to combine Scott's distinctive style with Melanie's introspective lyrics to create what Rootstown magazine calls the "well-crafted roots music" of Bomar.

After moving to L.A. in 2000 Bomar began work on their first duo CD. Released in 2002, one reviewer described Maladies of Love as a "heady brew of folk, country and some pop with a lyrical emphasis [that is] edgy with some great hooks."

Not long after the release of Maladies of Love, Scott secured a staff songwriter position in a joint publishing deal with Sony/ATV/Tree Music Publishing and Larga Vista Music. In addition, the duo won second place in the national Chris Austin Songwriting Competition (judged by Gillian Welch, Jim Lauderdale and others) and have both been honored annually with the ASCAPlu$ award which recognizes "writers whose works have a unique prestige value." They've also received awards from the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and Jewel's Soul City Café song contest.

This is a great collection of songs. Most CD's have two or three good songs, but I like all of the songs on Bomar. I listen to it over and over! Nice work Bomar!
