RICHARD BONE (born February 3, 1952 - Atlanta, GA) has been creating music since his early teens. He began his professional musical career creating soundtracks and scores for several off-Broadway companies working in experimental theater. In 1979 he released with his band Bone the single Pirate the Islands/Headlines Have It before joining the legendary new-wave band Shox Lumania in 1981. That same year Richard recorded a solo 7" called Digital Days/Alien Girl on his own that was picked up by the UK based label Survival Records. While with Survival he released two LPs, four EPs, two 45s and composed several singles for various compilations albums. His 1983 single Joy of Radiation reached #1 on the Hong Kong dance music charts.
Richard started Quirkworks Laboratory Discs in 1991 allowing him the freedom to create music of a more experimental nature and remain in control of his musical direction. The next sixteen years would see Richard release twenty-one recordings of new material, three CDs of previously unreleased tracks, two collaborations and a collection of previously unreleased backing ambient tracks intended for collaborations, a compilation of previous Quirkworks' releases as well as contributing to several multi-artist compilations and various other projects. Of the new material recordings, three quickly rose to the #1 placement on industry charts as well as receiving numerous other honors. In 2004 Richard's recording The Reality Temples was nominated for the NAR LifeStyle Music Awards Best Electronic Album, his 2005 recording Saiyuji was nominated for the NAR LifeStyle Music Awards Best Ambient Album and his 2007 recording Infinite Plastic Creation was awarded the NAR LifeStyle Music Awards Best Electronic Album.
Projects of 2008 included a DVD & soundtrack CD release entitled Short Waves - Brief Excursions in Surreal Video that released March 20, 2008 and an ambient recording entitled Sudden Departure that was released September 16, 2008. Forthcoming projects in the planning stages are a "Best Of" CD of selections from Richard's back catalog and an as yet untitled digital only recording, both to be released on the AD Music label, and a film score for a wordless documentary by a German film maker expected to be completed in 2010.
