Song, composition, and improvisation make up the music of BoneOil: Tom Burre-guitar, electonics, and vocals; Todd Hinman-drums, George Muscatello-bass; and Joe Reinsel-laptop.
Intro and extroverted lyrics are protected by exterior musical elements including rock, world, jazz and avant-garde (whatever that means).
"The Mist of Lust" also offers some guest appearances by Bryan Thomas-(check him out on CDBaby), Adrian Cohen, Tony Perrino, James Lanni, Joe Joyes, Matt Loiacano and Danny Whelchel.
about the band:
T.Burre writes the pieces for BoneOil. Other groups he's been involved with include Gastronomic Dance Company, openistudios, Ghost Names, Family Tree, Uranus, Nickname: Rebel, In Like Flint, and Caged Monkey. Burre holds a B.A. in Music from SUNY Albany and currently resides in the Bay Area. Visit www.tomburre.com
T.Hinman is behind the beater and likes it that way. Also a current member of HereGod (songwriter Christina Manning). Past groups include the award winning jazz group The G.M. Trio and some crazy-ass metal bands from the 80's.
G.Muscatello is best known for his mind blowing metal/jazz/neo-20th-21st century guitar work, but for BoneOil, he rocked the electric bass. He plays with tons of musicians these days, is a current member the Brian Patneaude Quintet, and teaches jazz guitar at Skidmore College. Check out www.brianpatneaude.com
J.Reinsel used MAX MSP to build his own oily sounds in the band's live performances. He taught electronic arts at UMBC and Johns Hopskins University, and has worked with Leroy Jenkins, Jin Hi Kim, and Elizabeth Streb, to name a few. He is currently living in Ecuador and developing interactive video performance systems. Check him out at www.joereinsel.org

Best Local Album of 2000, (Capital Region of New York)
author: J. Eric Smith, Metroland Newsweekly
Refreshing in its difference from anything that's come before in these parts, yet still bearing the very recognizable marks and ministrations of its creators- Tom Burre, George Muscatello, and Todd Hinman- all of whom are sublime performers in their own rights, and who bring out the best in each other in ways most bands can only dream of.

METROLAND. Albany. NY.
Guitarist Tom Burre, bassist George Muscatello and drummer Todd Hinman combine a mindbending blend of styles and techniques in their presentation of Burre’s compositions: Free-jazz tangents, slow-swinging Latin lounge, and vicious metal squall are shot through with Beat poetry, wry observational humor and political outrage to produce the Bone Oil sound. The influence of Frank Zappa is readily apparent, but so too is that of Mr. Bungle, Gil Scot-Heron, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Rage Against the Machine and David Torn. This is heady music for headbangers.

Best Guitarist (Making a Statement)
author: Metroland, The Best Of 2001
Sure, Tom Burre’s guitar has six strings, and, yes, he’s playing chords and writing songs on it, just like all the other guitarists in town, but somehow the noises that come out of his amp don’t quite sound like anything we’re heard before, anywhere. Add an intelligent, exploratory songwriting ethos and a bucket of vocal techniques that would make a team of Tuvan throat singers take note, and you’ve got a true trailblazer of sound and vision.
