What else can be said, except that this band is SICK! It's hard to describe what happens when these guys take the stage, it's like some amazing energy begins to swell and engulf everyone within earshot. Before you know it the lights come on, it's last call, but you're not ready for it to end. You feel like a mega-dose of caffeine was shot right into your veins. If you like Funk, Jazz, Latin or Go Go, it's all mixed together, thrown at you one after another, a non-stop high energy dance mix of real music played by real musicians who are feeling the high as much as you are, probably more. And this isn't the usual radio stuff you hear. These are old school style grooves that get you out of your seat and make you feel alive! Killer horns, bass, guitar, drums and congas sweetened with smooth memorable melodies and harmonies to satisfy any taste. Not
enough to convince you? Would you trust the judgment of some of the biggest bands in the music industry? These groups and artists, though quite diverse in their styles, have all had Boogiehawg share the stage with them:
Jimmie's Chicken Shack / The Allman Brothers / The Pat McGhee Band
The Goo Goo Dolls / Vertical Horizon / Our Lady Peace
Cypress Hill / Stroke 9 / Bernie Worrell and the Woo Warriors
James Mathus and his Knockdown Society /
The Original P-Funk / PM Dawn / Jennifer Page
Dirty Walt / eek-a-mouse / George Benson / Kenny G(no joke!)
In 1998, Boogiehawg released their first EP This is the Place, which sold in excess of 1,000 copies. The release party for their second CD, Something So Strange, in late July 1999, was attended by close to 600 fans, and the record sold 1,000 copies before September 1st, and totalled 3,000 copies sold by the end of 2000. The second record has received significant radio play up and down the east coast including regular rotation on Washington's own DC101. Their third most anticipated release "Rise Above" was met in access of 1,000 fans on Dec. 7th, 2001 and has already sold over 600 copies. The band tours up and down the east coast all year round bringing to your doorstep their own brand of FUNK! Call your radio stations, call your music clubs, call your momma and let's get this groove on the move!
