Album Notes

The Boogiemen are San Diego's freshest, most inspired Blues Roots music band. They play a style called "West Coast Boogie", a mix of jump blues or swing and more traditional blues. They have been performing all over the greater southern-California region for the past ten years. Some people call it Texas or Chicago Blues, or jump blues. The mix of styles the band members bring to the group give the Boogiemen their unique sound. Add that to their exciting, energetic stage show, and you have a mix that pushes the boundaries of traditional blues into the 21st century. The Boogiemen are proving that through growth and interpretation American blues cannot be pigeonholed into only one style.

The Boogiemen have been nominated "Best Blues Band" at the "San Diego Music Awards" 2003, 2004. Their third release "A Little Trim" was also nominated "Best Blues Album", and is now available here @ cdbaby.com. This all original CD has a variety of grooves and styles that showcases the unique sound and humor of these talented musicians. Listen to some samples of "A Little Trim" here online.

Richie Blue, best damm harmonica player i've heard in years!
author: John Fredrick
As a blues/rock die-harder, I have to say that over all this CD wasen't bad. I like the fact that they didn't try to do the same-ole, same-ole wanna be a blues act from the 50's. I mean don't get me wrong that stuff was great but do you really think Muddy Waters wouldn't be trying to come up with some fresh sounds if he were alive today? Your damm right he would! Thats what these guys are trying to do it seems. I feel they are still holding back and they could push the envelope even more. Richie Blue, now theres a harp player! They need to give that guy a lot more room instead of just little solo's at the end of each tune. Richie Blue has harmonica skills for sure. It's worth getting the CD just to listen to his short solo's. I say let him front the band!

Great CD! Love the harmonica!

I'm a jump blues finatic! These guys are fun! I only wish I lived closer to California because I can imagine what these guys sound like live. With this type of music, it's always better live I think. The lyrics are fun and silly. They really seem like they are having a good time. I especially am drawn to the harmonica playing on this CD. Richie Blue rips! Only wish he was more of a presence through out the the songs. But the harp solo's are great!
