ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Booglerizers mix fingerstyle guitar with mandolin and arch-top slide, leaving room for some tube-driven harmonica. Their vocalists have harmonized, crooned and growled together for over thirty years. Time is kept with brushed snare, washboard, clay udu or spoons. At the bottom of the sound is the tuba, which can be regal or downright flatulent. Whether they play rural blues, ballads, ragtime, jug-band, New Orleans style or R&B, it all has a funky, barrel-house feel. Artists covered by the band range from Memphis Minnie, to Etta James, and Robert Johnson, to Ry Cooder. Ironbound Blues, a recent CD release from The Booglerizers, presents nine original songs with music and lyrics composed by Richard DiPaolo, and six eclectic covers.

Ironbound Blues
This is a good old American jug band, washboard tappin, tuba tootin' fiddle flyin' wobulatin' wonder. If you're looking for hip hop, this ain't it. If you're looking for some original American music greatness, buy this CD immediately!

I can\'t tell you anything clever. I don\'t know who I\'m spozed to compare them to. But, lord, I am in love. Anybody who can slide a guitar like it\'s KY-ed, and sing, with peoples playin tuba and mandolin as if Rome is burning around them, while rain cane and clay udu (whatever they are) bring it all in, is at least all right by me.

Sometimes, when a group of guys get together to jam out the blues with nothing more than the love of music on their minds, the results can't help but be starkly honest, barrels of fun, and sublimely inventive. This particular group of guys have been playing together for a pretty darn long time, and it's evidenced wonderfully in the cohesion they display on these 15 tracks of acoustic roots music. They've got their bases covered: slide guitar, mandolin, washtub bass, acoustic fingerstyle guitar, and all kinds of percussion fill out the sound easily. Throw in harmonica, piano, and even a tuba, and you've got yourself a group of players who have left their options open for various degrees of musical madness. They take advantage, running through nine original numbers and six covers, each one taking on a different instrumental arrangement than the previous song. The tracks are short but sweet, packed with bellowing bottom end from the tuba, which keeps the songs chugging along and constantly pushing forward. The original works here are the real standouts, with lyrics that follow a traditional blueprint but aren't afraid to get a tad abstract. This one's non-stop fun from start to finish. They're gonna booglerize you, baby.

americana

This cd is a very nice set of songs done by a couple of guys that really like the songwriter/singer genre. There is a very good rendition of Lowell George's 20 Million Things, that I liked better than the original. What an enjoyment to listen to a non-radio played cd as your own discovery.
