With the release of “Visions of Backbeat”, the infectious, signature sound of Boombox reaches music lovers across the board, and delivers original soul back into the scene. This evolution in dance music is created by combining live instruments with turntables, multi-track sequencing and sampling groove boxes. All tracks are original compositions that are performed live by Russ Randolph and Zion Godchaux.

    I didn't know music like this *existed*. Thank goodness I was clicking around CD Baby and stumbled across "Visions of Backbeat" and decided to give it a listen. Once I heard "Stereo", I knew I was buying this album. The more I listened, the more I was impressed. Now that I've had the album for a few weeks, I've been able to introduce my coworkers to this remarkable music. (They're hooked, too.) If you're reading this review, wondering whether you should give BoomBox a listen or move on, DO NOT CLICK AWAY. This is one album you'll want to check out. You'll be glad you did.

    I got this cd for my girlfriend because she is just insane about these guys, very good live performances and a well produced cd.. I'm a DJ so of course I've had to dabble and see what I can do with this stuff, very good to toss in a breakbeats mix or even get a little crazy and cut some pink floyd in there,.. lot of opportunity to use your creativity, I like it when you can do that.

    Loved this cd, and it was my first experience of being introduced to Boombox. Nasty stuff, great riffs & beats; catchy tunes. If you like jamband and trance/funk electronica, you'll love these guys and Visions of Backbeat. HIGHly recommended.

    I also saw Boombox at Grateful Fest, and many other times at NLQP, Boombox will make you groove like other, the beats are phat and keep you bouncing, I was playing a live archive.com recording in the woods booming out of my truck I counted 25 people dancing in the street killer time, best weekend ever, or one of them at Nelson's.

    I saw Boom Box at the Variety Playhouse when they opened for DSO. They were like nothing I have ever heard and my wife and I can't stop jamming out to it! I am spreading it around our crew and everyone digs it. The only reason I gave it a 4 rather than a 5 is that I bought a live cd (from NYE in Chi.) at the show and its better than the studio. I would love to get my hands on more live recordings. This is very solid music! peace, ct

    This is an album you can put in and listen to the whole way through. It's something you hear for the first time and automatically start groovin'. There's not alot of good stuff coming out anymore, but this is GOOD!
