The birth of an extraordinary album, as it seems that music has taken a decline in appreciation and interest of the people. Boome has stepped out the box on this album and stood on top of it. When asked how this album is any different from the rest of today’s rap albums, Boome replied “I approach this one differently; I took into accord the current state of the country mainly the recession and the ongoing war. Man that’s depressing enough, so I came into this record with intentions of making a feel good album”. “New King On The Block” is a story of a royal mindset, a motivational tool to living big dreams, love, heartbreak, life with a futuristic touch.
This album is explosive with energy with leading singles like “Landing Gear”, an upbeat track with a super catchy chorus “watch me land my plane” followed by the street anthem Coppin Whips featuring Dallas, Texas heavyweight rapper Big Tuck. So we asked how did the Big Tuck collaboration come about? “As far as Texas rap I have always respected UGK, Chamillionaire, and Tuck. “Coppin Whips” was originally a solo record of mine on my -Rize of A King- mixtape, so when it came to the album I wanted to beef it up make it a stronger record, and I knew Tuck’s voice would mash so well with the track so I hit him up and we made it happen, an instant hit. And we also threw a single release party in Dallas, and the performance made the track super official”.
So how does it feel to compete on a national level, does it beat popping trunk? “I mean popping trunk is where it comes from, that’s the streets it’s a direct connection with the people that you can’t get in the stores or on the web, you dig. But with everything you do in life there has to be progress so for me to go from popping trunk on my first 2 projects to my album selling at Best Buy one of the biggest music retail stores in the world, I mean yeah it still trips me out to walk into store and see my album next to Bow Wow’s and Biggie’s”. So what’s next for Boome, what’s your next goal? I mean first of all I want this album to do well from the sales stand point, its outstanding album so I wanted to reach a mass audience. As far as the record deal goes, right now am selling albums without it. So when the labels step to me again they will have to come correct. I wouldn’t mind Def Jam or Atlantic or anybody that’s going to seriously take my career to a Grammy level. But for right now am Rize up Ent”.
