Album Notes

The Roaring 20's, also known as the era of Booze and Broads, was an exciting period. The early 1920’s spoke for itself with its raids, bombings, corruption, and hands into everything that would pay off in money. Beer barons and booze kings blossomed into being. Franchises for exclusive sales of beer and for the prostitution racker were to be enjoyed by the privileged few, and led to the creation of places where the privileged could exploit their ventures.
Speakeasies sprang up in the early days of prohibition and supplied the thirsty populace with the illegal booze that they craved. Speakeasies were a place that men and woman could drink, relax and enjoy music. The music often was supplied by the type of mechanical instrument featured on this recording. This is a perfectly restored 1920’s era coin operated Seeburg KT playing such favorites of the day, like “If You Knew Susie” and “Sweet Georgia Brown". Sit back, relax and listen. Imagine yourself sitting in a Speakeasy, enjoying the booze and broads.
