A Boring Normal Story
The Boring Normals grew out of a solo project by Rob Williams (Contoocook Line, Joe Buck) in the late 1990s. After the disbandment of Joe Buck, Williams began penning new material for a solo effort that tapped into a variety of influences—The Velvet Underground, The Replacements, John Prine, and so forth. Recorded in the pre-digital era at Mike Hearst’s (One Ring Zero) 8-track home studio in Richmond, VA, the project was titled “Function over Fashion” for the simplicity of the material and the way in which it was recorded. Several local music friends joined in some of the sessions and The Boring Normals were born.
“Function over Fashion” was re-mastered and re-released in August of 2006.
The Boring Normals second CD was released in October 2006, and is also available from CD baby.
