B O S K O
Every few years the Record Industry births a shinning star known as a music maker, composer, producer, and talent. Bosko, one of the West Coast's hottest new producers, is certainly all of that. Born in Accra, Ghana, West Africa and raised in Portland, Oregon, he has worked with some of the biggest and brightest stars of hip-hop, r&b, and rock music. His work with superstar artists such as Master P, Limp Bizkit, Lil Kim, Tyrese, Kurupt, The Hot Boyz, Too Short & E40 has proven he is truly multi talented. Bosko's tracks have sold an excess of 4 million records combined. Bosko is a trained musician who plays and records live bass, guitar, keys and trumpet, and in the tradition of Roger Troutman, Bosko has mastered the "talk box" creating a bonafide signature sound. Furthermore, Bosko records, mixes and engineers the hits in his state of the art facility, Bombay Digital Studios in Los Angeles, CA.
Bosko started his career as a DJ, then soon began producing music for local rappers in his hometown. Frustrated with the lack of major label attention, he started his own independent label Jus' Family Records with his best friend Terrance Scott (aka Cool Nutz). He later moved to Los Angeles and got his first major break producing a record for Volume 10. Within months he was asked to produce the theme song for FOX Television's comedic sensation, "In Living Color". Other projects soon followed, including tracks for E40, Spice 1 and The Luniz .
In addition to producing for many superstar artists, Bosko is an artist himself who was signed to Universal Records as a part of the group D.B.A, Doing Business As..., including Cool Nutz and Poppa LQ. Bosko rapped, sung, produced, mixed, engineered and also mastered the self titled album for his company Bombay Entertainment, which featured guest performances by E40, Kurupt, WC, Sticky Fingaz, BG of The Hot Boyz and Jay Felony to name a few.
Also on the cutting edge of technology, Bosko has produced music exclusively using computers throughout his career and was the first to record and mix a gold selling rap album, E40's Element of Surprise, on a computer using ProTools and Logic Audio. He also does beta testing for Digidesign and is an endorsee for Emagic's Logic Audio, putting the Mechanical Engineering Degree he received from USC to work.
Bosko continues to work with the industry's hottest hip hop artists in addition to producing r&b and rock. Currently, he appears on the rock/rap group Limp Bizkit's latest remix album New Old Songs. Bosko's funky hip-hop version of "Crushed" is certainly in good company with other singles being remixed by great producers like, Josh Abraham, Timberland, the Neptunes, and P Diddy. He is also in heavy rotation (radio/video) on The Outlaws newly released single "World Wide" featuring Tupac which he produced and is featured on (check him out in the video on 106th & Park perfoming the talkbox).
In addition to producing the hits, Bosko heads Bombay Entertainment Inc. The A&R driven company has taken an aggressive position signing 2 new rap artists, and 2 new R&B producers. "We're committed to artist development," says Bosko. "Expect great things from Bombay this year. We are on a mission to create innovative music and introduce exceptional talent."
Finally, Bosko has recently closed a major production deal with Ted Field's new label ArtistDirect for his artist and label partner Phats Bossi. Look for Phats' debut in July 2003 on Rated PB/ArtistDirect.
