Album Notes

Chris Bottomley is a talented singer/bassist/percussionist who has performed across North America for the past fifteen years. His music draws from the roots of rock/funk/soul/reggae and jazz; here is an artist with lively, spirited, funky stuff, culled from the labrynths of the heart and soul, messin' with the body and mind!
Bottomley's CD "Brainfudge" was released in 1994. Full of horn-driven catchy bass grooves in a pop sensibility, this high energy recording was greeted instantly with positive reviews. "Seize the Day" received considerable alternative and campus radio airplay. Also includes the rousing horn-driven "Stolen Land", a cover song written by Canadian folk-rocker Bruce Cockburn about indigenous rights that was featured on Intrepid Record's compilation, "Songs of Bruce Cockburn/Kick at the Darkness. Features a star-studded cast of players; including Don Kerr (Ron Sexsmith) Chris Brown (Chris Brown & Kate Fenner) Perry White (Shuffle Demons) Kathryn Rose on vocals and Ken Myhr (Jane Siberry/Cowboy Junkies) on guitar! Guaranteed to put a rumble in yer system!

"A fascinating mélange of deep grooves, horn shots and stylistic adventure"
The Record

"I've got to say that Chris Bottomley's release BRAIN FUDGE is one of the most inventive and imaginative releases I have heard this year."
Eric Cohen - WAER - Jazz 88

" Yet another great album, full of its usual surprises, from the multi-talented Chris Bottomley. Albums such as this are so innovative, with all the different genres/influences, it is hard to categorise. So, why bother categorising this particular album? Don't! Just relax and listen and let the album take you far away."
Tony Bates - Highlands 100.7FM

"Down in Mexico" is a wonderful easy going tune. I can see myself on the beach watching the sailboats. "Seize the Day" has such high energy. "Irish Whisky" has great psychedlic-like reverb on the guitars. Nice funky rhythm to the whole thing.
