The legacy of Martin Luther King is more relevant today than ever. Forty years after his assassination we elected the first black president of the USA. But Martin was killed for moving beyond civil rights to address issues like war and poverty. Could Martin have seen from "the mountain top" that the first black president would be saddled with spreading wars and poverty, and that he would be assailed with bitter, racially tinged backlash for even modest attempts toward change? For the dream to move forward, it can no longer be placed on the shoulders of one person, we all have to pick it up. That's what this song is about. Let's sing it together and make a difference!
