Hey, my name is Rebecca. I'm 15 years old, and I am a junior recording artist. All my life I have always wondered "What's my gift?" and "Will I ever find what i'm good at?"
I had no idea whatsoever what was coming for me. In grade 5, I entered a talent show. The auditions were the next day, but I didn't care. All I wanted to do was be on the stage, I didn't care what I was doing up there. Finally deciding on a dance, I tried to put one together, but I didn't have enough time to make it good. So I said, "Okay, I'll sing a song then." The song I chose was by one of my favourite singers then, and now, Aselin Debison. The song was called "Moonlight Shadow." I went to auditions the next day and I got into the talent show, no problem. It wasn't until I had to sing in front of everyone else at practises when I realized what I'd gotten myself into.
I kept practising, hoping my confidence would grow, as well as my singing ability, which at the time, I thought was weak and monotone (in grade 5 words, "bad"). So when the big night came, I was really excited but completely scared out of my mind. My then-best friend was singing a song too, called "Everywhere" by Michelle Branch, another of my favourite singers, and My other friend was singing a song accapella called "Lucky" by Britney Spears. Knowing they were singing too, made me feel a bit better. So when I went up, I stood rooted to the spot, still freaked out, but ready to sing. I sang the song, and eventually loosened up, and started dancing around the stage a little bit. My Grande Finale was a huge leg slip at the end, which I had learned at gymnastics. As soon as I finished, the gym erupted into a series of cheers and clapping, and it turned into roaring standing ovasion! I was so happy!
After my turn, I walked off the stage, and my dad came into the hallway and congradulated me with a funny look on his face. That's where the journey began. Soon after the show, the first stage of Motormouth Project Studio was built, and I began recording and writing.
My first song was called "Star Drive" written by both my dad and I. Followed by a percussion pop song called "Not There Yet," a fairy tale called "Cinderella," and the casual "Whatever." A small band type thing had been formed with my then-best friend, but it didn't last, as I wanted to try working by myself for awhile, which is the reason that now, 5 years later, I have succesfully made an unrealeased demo and christmas cd, and a released promotional album, the orginal containing 10 songs, and the improved containing 13. Now working on my second album, or what is known as my "first real" album, I have more experience on guitar, vocals and writing, to help me along, plus an amazing group of musicians, and excellent manager, the best street team ever (Julia - Video crew, My dad - dad, Rosie Marie - My best friend, and the sister never given to me, and my family). I thank everybody for everything they have done to help me in the past and present, and those who will help me in the future. Most of all though, I thank God, because if he hadn't been up there all this time, nobody helping me would be here, and I wouldn't be here, realizing my dream, either!
