Hailing from central New Hampshire, the seasoned bluegrass band Bow Junction has been entertaining New England audiences at town fairs, concert stages, and public events for many years. After years of hearing listeners ask to purchase their music, Bow Junction finally booked studio time and laid down the tracks that now form their first CD, Bow Junction: Bluegrass, released on May 1, 2007.
“We tried to select songs that showcase the broad range of music we’re known for and that we perform at most of our concerts,” explains bass player Randy Hencke. “Everything from hard driving bluegrass to gospel and country, and even a fantastic Celtic‐style tune.” The new 12‐song CD includes bluegrass favorites like “Foggy Mountain Top” and “Uncle Penn,” as well as unique and distinctive versions of classics like “Ring of Fire” and “Shady Grove.”
The CD closes with a band original, “Rusted Barbed Wire,” written by Mark Aubertin, in collaboration with Russ Aubertin, the band’s guitarist. Response to the CD has been overwhelmingly positive.
“I’ve been to two or three of their concerts in the last year,” says fan Phil Wallingford. “This CD is just great and really captures the energy, drive, and variety of their music.” Bow Junction is a five member band. Russ Aubertin plays rock‐solid rhythm and lead guitar and is equally at home whether flatpicking or performing fingerstyle. Marty Hayden is known for his talent at creating tasteful backup work, lead breaks on the banjo and rhythm guitar. Kathy Barnes is the “Bow” in Bow Junction with her impeccable taste and timing on the fiddle. Linda Magoon provides spark and drive on the mandolin. Randy Hencke’s smooth and subtle bass keeps Bow Junction in time, on time and in tune.

Outstanding, soaring, and uplifting - Don't miss this CD!
author: Scott Elliott
If you're considering this album, you already know that it is more than spot-on bluegrass. The songs selected for this CD are an incredible complementary journey carved right through the heartland of American folk music. The musicianship and production is exceptional and there is no way to praise any of the players without lauding them all. One can't help but wonder if the album was recorded in a studio since all tracks capture the pure energy of a live performance with all it's subtleties. Don't expect a rendition from the Soggy Bottom Boys here, this is not a pop country show, but this reviewer believes Bow Junction could perform anything put in front of them. Final note: the original "Rusted Barbed Wire and Broken Down Fences" is a hit! Pass the word about this outstanding musical composition...
