Singer and songwriter Stephen Jacques formed Box of Moxie in Charlottesville, Virginia. You will find a soulful, eclectic and unique sound of original material he wrote in the Summer of 2011. After 3 decades of playing guitar, he laid down tracks for what is hopefully the beginning of many more to come. This record began with the writing of Korengal Valley Courage, whereby those lyrics were influenced after seeing the courageous films "Restrepo" and "Sleeping Soldiers" -- the plight of soldiers at war in the Afghanistan mountain range. In this same courageous vein, proceeds from this CD will also go to the Resources for Inner City Children (RICH), founded by teacher and tutorer Paul Penniman of Washington, D.C. Mr. Penniman has been one of the leading forces on the eastern seabord of the U.S. as far as assistance for those living below the poverty line, and the struggles of inner city students. We know of no other person in the Washington, DC area who has done more for minority students and others ; So we dedicate attention to the plight of inner city warriors, seen in the accomplishments and assistance to inner city youth, who are warriors themselves in so many cases. The powerful acoustic song "Inner City Plight" written for them, will hopefully be a soulful and uplifting song for you to enjoy. We hope this unique sound will strike a chord with you. Hopefully, the humorous songs we have mixed in the lineup will make you think about the world around you in an interesting way. Please tell a friend. After we break even we will begin another CD.
