-village voice

"something new and truly great"
-willamette week

"Pleasure is a big, complex electro-pop rocker with drums that skate between hiphop and post-rock while shifty bass slinks down booze alley, and singer Jonny Ragel's soulful, dead-serious voice switches between a gravely croon and a great, tremulous falsetto"
-portland mercury

"BEDM's infectious and ridiculously catchy synth-pop concoctions carry the giddy sugar rush of a dozen snow cones or a month full of sundaes."
-the stranger

"Easy to fall in love with, this is one unique piece of work from one severely gifted boy."

BEDM’s debut disc ‘pleasure’ features performances of some of portland’s most notorious drummers, including talkdemonic, danny seim of menomena, josh skins of systemwide, and charles neil of quivah. key tracks include crowd favorite "lets get lost sometime" (t-8), which delivers sensual lyrics over a bouncing new-wave chorus. "si(x)cuse me" (t-6) pairs a desperate vocal with dusty guitars not unlike the work of adrian utely of portishead, while "introduction B" (t-2) boasts a mean guitar hook and thorough showcase of ragel’s skills on the turntable. "eunuch" (t-4) makes being alone in the basement appealing with it's playful lines and dj dangermouse drum editing.

Not quite as breathtaking as Two Ghosts, but enjoyable nonetheless.

my music of choice recently has been this album, and when i can't listen to it (i.e. at work) i'm usually singing one of the songs from it in my head. catchy, but still different from other music out there -- nice!

Looks and sounds delicious!

Sorry, I could not help myself on the food overtone--cause BEDM is just plain tasty! Several tracks are sure to be radio hits—Eunuch, Get Lost Sometime, Angel Telling Lies, Taste of Your Mouth, and Intro B all have “RADIO” written all over them. But lest that make some scoff—assuming that radio-ready means generic same old crap, that isn’t the case. The songs are radio-ready because the vocals are excellent, the song arrangements fantastic, and the music fresh and unique. I LOVE this album. It makes me dance, it makes me sway, it makes me groove. It makes me happy. This is a great original and powerful album!
