Album Notes

A typical Irish album sounds like jigs and reels, played on acoustic instruments by folks like The Chieftans or The Clancy Brothers. An Atypical Irish Album consists of rock songs from bands and artists with Irish lineage- Van Morrison, U2, Cranberries, Thin Lizzy, Oasis, Rory Gallagher and Charles Gallagher. Besides the Irish connection, these songs are classic and representative of the times when they hit the airwaves. Most of the songs selected are the most well-know from the bands. They were selected because the originals were vibrant and enjoyable. It is also hoped that after listening to these songs you will dig deeper into the catalogues of these artists to hear the originals and other great material written and performed by them.

BPD Piano Trio is a project group that was formed to produce songs in a simple format when songs of a common theme are compiled into a CD. Most of the songs will have a focus on piano with a rhythm section of bass and drums. Other instruments may be added as needed. We hope you look forward to other BPD Piano Trio releases in the future.

The Business of Music: In order for a band to do a cover of another’s song, they must obtain a license (for a royalty fee and administrative costs) from the owner of the song’s copyright. Most groups do only one cover song per CD to give the listener something familiar to hear. BPD decided to do eleven because of the concept of the album. Digital download of a cover song requires a separate license and fees. It is more expensive and more difficult to administer; therefore, BPD reluctantly has chosen not to offer downloads from this site or any of the other popular download sites.

The number of people with Irish names and connections is HUGE nationally and world-wide. Sales at St.Patrick's Day, Christmas and the summer listening season are built-in target dates.
This CD could be a great FUND RAISER for Irish organizations in your locality. (Think Boston, New York, Chicago, St. Louis, Savannah or any other city with a parade, green beer and green river.
The selection of songs and groups on the CD are well known to many listeners of various ages. The format of the songs are both lively and soothing.
The CD is nearly a HOUR LONG and contains a BONUS SONG, The Bow and Garter, in typical Irish style.
Since there are no digital downloads of these songs, here is one sure way of getting the songs...at about $0.65 each. Take that iTunes!
