brad was born in 1953. yeah, he's an old guy, but he can still sing/play and write. brad's music is greatly influenced by classic rock artists like the moody blues, the beatles, joe walsh, eric clapton, and the like, but he has kept up and is also influenced by many modern artists. his work transcends musical styles from acoustic to heavy rock with a little world and new age thrown in for atmosphere.
but it's not just the music. brad's lyrics go way beyond "hey hey baby" and delve through the struggles of living life everyday - all its joy, pain, desires, doubts, fears, ups and downs. he knows about that stuff. he bets you do, too. being a christian, brad is a strong believer in the ethic of love in all its mystery and intricasy. but brad has no interest in beating anyone over the head with a bible live or on cd, but instead invites people to enter into the journey of life where ever it may lead.
when a close friend and musical partner died in 1995, brad was faced with the reality that life is short and holds no guarantees. he'd always wanted to record his music and thought he would "one day." his friend's death woke him up and spurred the recording of 1997's "songs of the journey" which features his friend posthumously, the songs built around tracks that previously existed. this cd is truly a journey as it collects over 20 years worth of songs full of questions, statements and affirmations of life, using an array of musicians.
brad had so much fun and reached such a personal depth in his efforts, that the door opened for more recording which resulted in 2000's "farther down the road." brad feels that this cd is a step forward musically and lyrically. it is a thematic album that builds upon the earlier work, using a core of musicians that gives the disc a cohesive sound. more keyboards and a few rhythm loops make their way into the mix along with brad's varied musical styles.
life has never been easy for brad, and he doesn't believe that it is for anybody. brad is an idealistic individual who sees the world as it could be, but he also strives to live in the world as it is (INFJ) as much as he can. and he has a wacky sense of humor. he approaches his life, faith and his music in much the same way. but the future is wide open. he'd love for you to be a part of the journey!
