You may already know Brad Clements... Why? His urban grooves are heard regularly on over a dozen radio stations nationally.
Brad has played the trumpet since elementary school and, although classically trained, his passion for music has led to his playing various styles of music such as Jazz, R&B, Hip-Hop, Salsa and Go-Go. Brad's talent earned him the distinction of becoming a first-call player for many internationally known artists such as Hip-Hop impresario P. Diddy. Brad has recently appeared on the Late Show with Conan O'Brien performing with Thievery Corporation, and also appears on several Thievery Corporation CD releases.
A native Washingtonian, Brad stays busy performing with various local stars on DC's active music scene, most notably with Go-Go legend Chuck Brown with whom he has been performing since 1999. Brad again caught listeners' attention with his eloquent trumpet solos on Chuck's latest CD/DVD releases, "Put Your Hands UP!" and "Your Game... Live at the 9:30 Club."
Brad continues to perfom with Sin Miedo, a DC-based Latin Jazz/Salsa band with whom he played lead trumpet for several years and also recorded two CDs. He also makes a guest appearance on the Nicki Gonzalez Band's latest CD release and performs with the Eric Felton Jazz Orchestra and the Pan American Symphony Orchestra on a recurrent basis.
Inspired and ready to pursue a recording career of his own, Brad teamed with his friend producer/arranger Carl Burnett (also the guitarist in Branford Marsalis' band Buckshot Lefonque); Carl produces tracks for Larry Carlton, Rick Braun and Boney James, to name a few. The result of their collaboration is Brad's first album "For the Love of You." With this recent release, this talented young artist and seasoned performer is poised to take his career to the next level.

soulful and unique trumpet style; cool grooves
author: Dan
His bio says he has played a lot of different styles of music, and this is very evident in his trumpet playing. In the tune called The Hookup, for example, I could hear latin and R&B influences on his playing, as well as a jazz fusion approach which reminded me a little of Freddy Hubbard or Hugh Masekela.
There is a more laid-back, introspective side of his playing that comes out notably in For the Love of You, in which he is playing behind a female vocalist in a romantic ballad.
The arrangements and production on the album are very original and creative.
All these factors combine in this album into a truly unique and appealing sound.
