CD Review/Alain Bradette/’State of Mind’AB-1001-04CD

Whoa!!……..Double whoa!!!……..And, whoa again to the immensity of color, feeling, panache, & just overall utter jazz craft contained in the talent(s) of Orlando, Fla. based reedman Alain Bradette. Alain is a transplant from another great jazz oriented musical town……Montreal Canada. To the enormity of his artistry, I say an enthusiastic……...Oui, Oui!! Alain plies his wares like a gifted polymath…….And, in particular his lyrical sax jazz voice is firmly based in the classic bebop tradition. He represents an uncommon classical crossover style as he
improvises for our instruction. His gentle, pleasing, and almost meditative music contains a mettle that is definitely worth seeking out.

I find myself on a musical journey that both moves and inspires a wide range of thought and emotion as I listen to Alain Bradette's STATE OF MIND. Soothing. Exciting. Soulful. Full of musical texture. As a body of work, this CD is engaging from the very start. I find I must listen to it from beginning to end without interruption. To do otherwise would leave me hanging on - longing and curious for more of Mr. Bradette's intimate saxaphone expressions. I cannot wait for the next musical completion from this refreshing artist, gifted arranger, and composer of great melody. I am a serious fan.

I really, really like this album!

Alain makes jazz with space and breathing room - not smooth jazz and it never gets 'free' either, but it lies somewhere between traditional and contemporary. I love to listen to it at home and in my car (full blast). Heartsong and Woman across the Room are my favorites. Thanks for making truly great music!
