Album Notes

Brad Payne Acoustic Storm

About the CD

This CD was recorded live at a show in Wichita Falls, Texas after a hard tour schedule that took Brad from North Carolina to Colorado. Brad Payne wrote all of these songs about his own life experiences. This is presented as is, recorded live, mistakes and all.

Description of each song in Brad's words:

Lezbee Friends: This song is meant to be funny; it started out as a joke between friends. I wrote it for my best friend who is a lesbian.

Broken Promises: I wrote this song with Rob Bittle about relationships that we thought would last forever, but didn't.

Gypsie Lullibye/Oh Carolina: This song is about the experience of traveling across the country from a place I considered home. It was a great time of discovery for me; defining the hardships associated with starting my solo career. The song does not capture the individual events but rather the overall feeling of safely arriving back to where it all began...

Earl: written for a homeless man that I shared breakfast with.

Consequence of Winning: This song is based on the discovery that sometimes winning isn't the most important thing.

Ode to Stella Ray: I wrote this song for my grandmother after cancer took her away. The night before her funeral, I sat up all night and wrote this tribute to the greatest woman I ever knew...she showed me the meaning of faith.

Make-Up Song: This was written for two friends who fell in love and were so wrapped up with one another that they forgot about everything else.

Gypsie Princess: I wrote this song for a beautiful girl that I fell in love with.

My husband and I are shocked and saddened by Brad's passing. Brad had an amazing gift for music, a voice like no other. I am sad that Rob and Brad will no longer play Oh Carolina together, it was magic with the two of them. Brad, I know you are singing with angels now. We send our condolences to your friends and wife.

The CD starts out with sort of a joke/funny song, but the rest of it is really heart-felt and emotional. Earl is by far my favorite, it just tells a great story. Ode to Stella Ray is a beautiful tribute to his Grandma and The Make-Up Song is just RIGHT ON!! I hope we can see him Live again soon...
