Album Notes

When Brad Stubbs was asked to play on a children’s stage at a music festival, he agreed to perform even though he really didn’t know many children’s tunes. So being a songwriter, he just wrote some new songs with titles like "The Wiggle Dance", "Where's The Band?" and "Lucky Dog". He sings the blues for youngsters in “It’s Hard Being A Kid" which is reminiscent of those Randy Newman songs from “Toy Story” and "Monster’s Inc.” Brad spent years working as a youth counselor and an educator so he knows how to talk to kids. "Street Smart (The Safety Song)" is a little life lesson set to a funky beat and is a catchy sing-along. Brad's 9 year old nephew sings with him on a few tracks like "My Favorite Shoes," a folksy tune about a boy who doesn’t want to throw away his old sneakers. "Up To The Hill (Carry Me)" is sentimental lullaby performed on mandolin and Celtic harp about a girl who dreams of riding a pony. “Too Many Tubas” is a fun bouncy march performed with lots of tuba. And finally, “Cowboy Christmas” is a novelty song that recalls those great holiday recordings from Elvis Presley and Gene Autry. This is an album the whole family can enjoy and it will be a welcome addition to any home.
