Album Notes

Mark Bram, and his alter ego/band Ruby Topaz play music that is a progressive blend of pop, classic rock, blues and fusion.
Like the classic rock of the 60's and 70's (The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Who, Alice Cooper, David Bowie, etc.), the music touches and mixes many styles and moods, which keeps the music fresh. This album was recorded in the early 2000s, before Mark re-eqipped his studio. It was recorded on an AW4416 and a VS880. The first single and first two Ruby Topaz albums (1982, 1985 and 1989) were recorded in big studios with MCI, Neve and SSL boards. This is the first CD recorded after the split of the lineup from those albums and was Mark's first venture into recording himself (although Mark produced the single and two Ruby Topaz albums, this was Mark's first foray into engineering a Ruby Topaz CD). With Steve D'Andrea (the first drummer for Ruby Topaz, who left before the single and two Ruby Topaz albums) playing drums on half the cuts (Mark played all the instruments, including drums, on the other half of the songs) this CD was recorded and the next page of the Ruby Topaz story was begun. David Sinclair of Britain's Kerrang magazine wrote of the first Ruby Topaz single "Amazing Guitar"..."genuine exitement"..."could be the next super group." This is the start of a new era of Topaz that carries on that tradition. Look for a new Professionally recorded Ruby Topaz CD in late 2010!

I found Mark Bram's website while surfing around an Alice Cooper webpage. I usually dont follow links to other websites from a page like that, but I did on a whim. Boy, am I glad that I did! This guy's guitar work is amazing. You can tell that he puts a ton of effort and emotion into EVERY song. I couldn't find one on this CD that I'd call filler. I can't wait till Mark finishes his next masterpiece. BUY THIS CD!!

Ruby Topaz Again is high-energy,in-your-face music that's impossible to ignore or forget. Compelling and often painfully honest lyrics, combined with this band's mature musicianship will take your breath away. Mark Bram's almost liquid facility on the guitar is nothing short of jaw-dropping - far better than a lot of the big-name musicians out there making the big bucks. Buy this CD - you won't regret it. It'll take you on the emotional rollercoaster ride of your life.
