Album Notes

For further information and song samples visit Brant on MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/brantwestran For Immediate Release Soulful and Honest, Canadian Singer-Songwriter Brant Westran's debut album Acoustasoul, now available. The 14 original acoustic tracks are a highly personal collection of stories and reflections written by Brant and recorded in his home studio. He draws from his personal experiences with loneliness, longing and living. Brant is joined by talented pianist Tomoko Uyeda and the bass styles of Masashi Kiku, both from Japan, on two tracks. From the melodic piano intro on the first track 'Here by Myself', to the life-examining metaphors of 'Oxygen', to the percolating guitar rhythm and emotional plea of 'The Moon', Acoustasoul delivers exactly what its title promises, acoustic sounds and a soulful delivery. 'I write music because it makes me feel better,' says Brant. 'I made the album because I wanted to try to make other people feel better. Sometimes just knowing that someone else feels the same is enough.' Acoustasoul is available through Brant's website www.bshanrecords.com and CD Baby. Acoustasoul is the debut recording for Brant, as well as the first release from his own label B.Shan Records. He has returned to his native British Columbia since a stint in Kyoto, Japan where he recorded this album. He continues to write and record music and cites Ani DiFranco, Ray Charles and his cousin Trevor Johnsen among his main musical influences.
