The Brazen Heads are a 5 piece Celtic rock band from Phoenix Arizona with a bawdy sort of The Pogues-meets - Christy Moore - meets - Horslips - meets - Flogging Molly style; performing an eclectic variety of high energy music from all over the Celtic Isles. The Heads will either get the crowd going or get kicked out trying!
The band's sound is a modern, acoustic centered, Celtic rock flavor. It is a high energy ride: powered by drums and bass, driven by fiddle and flute, navigated by poignant lyrics, and tricked out with tight vocal harmonies, instrumental diversity. . . and a few dirty jokes. It can be sweet at times and funny at times but it can also be darker with a very driving, punchy, sound; like an edgy rock band playing on MTV unplugged. It tends to be more melodic than typical Celtic punk or hard rock but also much more rockin’ than your typical folk rock or acoustic pop. Songwriting is drawn from traditional Irish, modern rock, hard rock, rockabilly, pop, and classical influences.
Acts that inspire their sound include: The Pogues, Christy Moore, The Saw Doctors, The Waterboys, The Horselips, Thin Lizzy, Luka Bloom, Great Big Sea, The Young Dubliners, Johnny Cash, AC/DC, Metallica, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, Pachelbel. . . . oh. . and Benny Hill.
