london time out got it right, when they described breadfoot live as "gritty guitar picking and homespunwisdom". and on breadfoots' latest release, "i'm ok, yer uk", the proof is in the pudding. recorded over the course of his last two runs over to the uk, breadfoot rambles thru the six tracks offered. along the way he disses bush, remembers his third grade crush and touches on 9/11 conspiracy theories. oh, and yep, he does manage to shut up long enough to pick a few tunes. and we should tell ya this, two of the tracks feature the amazing fiddle of anna phoebe.

breadfoot figures to be back in the uk this fall '03. he'll be kickin' some solo gigs and will also be doing a weeks worth of shows with just about to burn. a band whose music has been described as being, "spawn of the east river delta and then dragged headlong across the midwest". just about to burn features breadfoot on slide guitars and six string banjo, paleface on vocals, guitars and melodica, and lil'mo on the kit . just about to burn is currently recording their first cd. ten catchy little numbers that will get ya tappin' yer foot and singing along.

"It's always fun catching a support act, with no expectations at all and as a result being completely and thoroughly entertained. This was indeed the case with the last date of Breadfoot's English tour. The Chalk Farm Enterprise's upstairs venue is a nice place to catch some quality soundz...it has nice ambiance, tables, chairs and punters that f*ck off after the first very awful band has finished, (cruel to be kind, innit)...leaving us...the sussed few (ahem) to sit down, take a weight off and imbibe some good ones (eh?). Breadfoot is a young gent from Ohio who plays marvelous countrified instrumentals that call to mind a punkier John Fahey. Gorgeous fluid passages of bluesy guitar that seem as if they were custom-built to soothe the soul and cure all ills. It was a pleasure to be swathed and coddled (?) in wave upon wave of sweet electric blues. BF has a beard that would make ZZ Top fume with envy and he has been adopted by the anti-folk fraternity in NYC. Well done chaps...you made a sweet move.
