Album Notes

After many months on the road and many miles racked up, the boys finally hit the studio as a highly in-tune three-piece, blending the clean Sohcahtoa sound with the highs and lows they encountered on tour. Yes, they've been thrown lemons. Wait till you hear what they did with them.

Breaking Laces is an indie trio straight out of Brooklyn whose songs range from straight up rockers to heart-on-their-sleeve acoustic numbers. Their work has been compared to artists ranging from Ben Folds, to Weezer, to Violent Femmes. They produce a full yet distinctive sound that is surprisingly large for a 3-piece. Breaking Laces consists of Willem Hartong, lead singer and guitarist, Rob Chojnacki on backing vocals and bass, and Seth Masarsky on drums and sampling.

Lemonade, a sonic leap forward from 2003's critically acclaimed Socahtoa, marks an important step in the evolution of the Laces, proving that their frequent touring around the country (close to 200 shows in 2004) has brought their unique vision into focus: rock-solid songwriting and powerful and energetic live shows, which have brought them legions of fans throughout the country.

A tight melodic sound.
author: Blues Bunny
This Brooklyn based trio are characterized by a tight melodic sound and interesting lyrics, and with this release they certainly doesn’t disappoint in either department. Highlight is the curiously titled “Garbanzo Beans”, which is a superbly constructed and catchy rock song that you’re liable to find yourself playing a lot. They have succeeded in brewing a concoction that will help cure musical blandness – should be taken on a regular basis until symptoms disappear.
