Album Notes

In a small suburb south of San Jose, CA lies the beautiful, country town of Morgan Hill. Other than its world record for the most fast food restaurants per capita, there wasn’t much to this town until the new and innovative rock band, Brea appeared out of no where. Brea consists of five multicultural members from different musical backgrounds bringing a unique fusion of musical arrangements. The lyrics are something that people of all ages can relate to, with themes such as growing up, making choices, relationships and even suicide. Formed during their high school years, summer of 2003, Leia Layus, Scott Schulze, Josh White and Mike Boyer, would never imagine being where they are today. Brea has performed at some of the biggest clubs in northern California including, Slims and The Saddlerack in Fremont, where they played at a tsunami benefit helping to raise thousands of dollars for tsunami relief. Their performance was premiered on Fox News. They also have been asked by Bill Graham Presents to open for Jet and Oasis. Nearly two years after Brea was formed, the band released their anticipated debut EP “The Immense Design of Things” produced by Polo Jones (Whitney Houston, Eric Clapton) appearing on the EP are Jimmy DeGrasso, former drummer of Megadeath and violinist Anton Patzner (Bright Eyes, Audrey Session). After the recent departure of their original drummer, long time friend Hollis Browne moved from Australia to join, Brea. Since the completion of their EP, Brea has been working to solidify their sound and flourish their fan base by performing nonstop throughout California. Embracing their sound and determined to play loud for the masses, Brea’s journey has only just begun.
