The Jersey Gaze states that, "singer/songwriter Bree Clarke will amaze you with the crystal clarity of her voice and the universal truths of her lyrics." This is true. Audiences identify with and are moved by her thought provoking lyrics. The Best of MP3.com Alternative is calling her, "…an excellent pianist who's really got something to say." That she does. Her songs represent a wide range of themes including sensual love songs, the search for individuality and self-identity, and personal freedom. When asked the question of what genre her music fits, Clarke defines it as, "a piano based pop/rock sound with a classical dimension”.

While Clarke's songs leave a lasting impression on the minds of those who experience them, most fans will tell you that it is Clarke's voice that attracts them. It is a voice of exceptional dynamic range that listeners recognize immediately. While she primarily concentrates on her career as a singer/songwriter, she spends a substantial amount of time working on her classical technique and studies and performs classic pieces in a variety of languages.

In 1998, Clarke released her self-titled EP and recently released her first full length CD, "Space In Time" (August 2002). The album contains six tracks written by Clarke as well as three original interpretations of songs previously recorded by various artists. If listeners are not thoroughly impressed with this diverse mix that is driven by exceptional melodies and breathtaking vocals, the album ends with a classical finale. Clarke performs two favorite classic opera arias by Puccini (Nessun Dorma and O Mio Babbino Caro) that demonstrate her extraordinary vocal ability and are sure to capture the listener's heart.

Over the past seven years, Clarke has developed a large following in New Jersey, New York City, and across North America through her web site, MP3.com, and other internet music sites. In addition, she has won several talent competitions including 1st place at the Rutgers University Talent Search in 1997. Most notably, Clarke performed in 1999 at the PNC Bank Center, NJ (formerly the Garden State Arts Center). One of several North Eastern bands to perform at the LGBT Cultural Heritage festival, host to approximately 6,000 attendees, Clarke captured the attention of many.

A native Canadian, Clarke was born in Vancouver, B.C. She moved to New Jersey with her family as a teenager, where she continued to nurture her love for music. It was not until 1995, while earning her degree at Rutgers University, that she discovered her calling as a songwriter and transformed into the singer/songwriter she is today. Although she is often compared to other female performers, her sound is definitely unique. "Each song takes its own direction. I'm not afraid to say what I need to say. I just perform what feels right to me. Something about Bree Clarke's music feels right to other people as well.
