Album Notes

A rare chance to buy a recording from this popular UK singer and actress. In this collection of some of her favourite songs she shows the great vocal versatility that she is known for. Some old songs , some newer - but all done in her own particular way and each song having its own "intimate" meaning.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Brenda began singing semi-pro at the age of twelve. At fourteen she won praise and encouragement from the late country and western legend Marty Robbins, after opening for him at, the then famous, Glasgow Apollo.

Music took a back seat when Brenda entered college to train as a teacher but after a few years of teaching she was forced to choose between teaching and singing; singing won the day. She recorded her first album "The Singer" with the English Chamber Orchestra and then went on to win the British TV talent series "Opportunity Knocks". She was signed by Polydor Records and her first major album "The Voice" was released to spectacular success. Music Week stated -

"..she has the artistry of a Piaf or Garland and is without doubt an emerging vocal and performing talent..."

She later appeared on, and won, "International Star Search" in the USA.

Brenda's vocal talent and engaging personality won her further praise through countless TV appearances in the UK as well as sell out live performances.

Acting has also played a part in her career and she received critical acclaim for her outstanding performance as Mama Morton in the West End of London production of the hit musical "CHICAGO" but it is while performing in her own shows that she receives outstanding reviews -

"...overall I was quite simply in utter awe."

"What a voice! Imagine Vonda Shephard, Aretha Franklin and Eva Cassidy rolled into one and that's Brenda Cochrane."

Have a listen for yourself to this terrific voice and take this opportunity to purchase one of the few recordings so far made in her career.
