BRENDA LEE EAGER
SINGER, SONGWRITER, ACTRESS
For music lovers in search of a voice full of passion. For those who appreciate a talent that soars without the use of synthesizers and sampled vocals. For those who are moved by lyrics that speak with the Rhythm and Blues and heartfelt knowledge of shared experience... Brenda Lee Eager answers the call.

This incredible songstress and accomplished songwriter captivates audiences with a soulful delivery uniquely her own. Listen to Brenda and you'll hear songs magically brought to life with a combination of down-home flavor and a slick uptown touch reflecting the influence of her upbringing in Alabama and Chicago.

Eager, pronounced (ager), found her voice at the tender age of three when she began singing in church in her hometown of Lower Peachtree, Alabama. Since beginning her career, Brenda Lee is one of the few who has always made a living doing what she loves... and doing it well.

Brenda, who has worked with great artists such as Diana Ross, Roberta Flack, Smokey Robinson, Teena Marie, Donny Hathaway, Graham Nash, Ray Charles, Mavis Staples, Stevie Wonder, among many others, takes us back to a time when soul-filled singing, whether silky-smooth or raw and passionate, was the order of the day.

Brenda, who started writing songs when she was in the third grade quotes "I started out writing poems. Short poems. But by the time I was in the fifth grade I was putting melodies to the words. By the time I was in the ninth grade I was writing stuff to sing for people. And by the tenth grade I had my own group, singing my songs in assemblies and hallways and anywhere people wanted to hear them."

This seasoned vocalist has received accolades from some of the greatest entertainers in the business. "Ooh, the way Brenda Lee Eager sings, OOH Baby", smiles the legendary Smokey Robinson.

Fellow singer songwriter Teena Marie credits Brenda Lee Eager as an influence in developing her own style; "The first time I heard Brenda Lee Eager I was sixteen years old and I was blown away by her range and yet sweet tone. I studied her records like I was in school. Brenda Lee was truly one of my teachers."

Long time friend Mavis Staples affectionately says that Brenda Lee is a "Bad Montana", and the great singer Rev. O. C. Smith compliments "Brenda's voice is simply the most angelic voice I have ever heard".

As a songwriter Brenda has written songs for Bobby Womack, Mavis Staples and the Staples Singers, Pop Staples, Cliff Richard, The Manhattans, Gladys Night, Peaches and Herb, and recently a Platinum single with the artist formally known as Prince.
Shirley Brown of "Woman to Woman" fame has recorded three of Brenda's tunes. Aretha Franklin and so many others continue to request her material.

Brenda's first taste of Musical Theater was with Della Reese, who cast Brenda as one of the lead roles in her musical "The Message is in the Music". Recently, Brenda returned from Europe where she co-starred with the legendary Blues singer Maine Weldon in the hit musical "Wild Woman Blues".

In addition, Brenda Lee has taught songwriting for the Quincy Jones Workshop in Los Angeles, and today is a consultant for many aspiring songwriters.

One would say that Brenda's latest project is one of her greatest undertakings and her greatest accomplishments to date. A full length musical based on her life, written by Brenda, "This Is My Story, This Is My Song" opened in Los Angeles to a packed house every night. Through her songs, tears and laughter, the audience is given a glimpse into the many talents of Brenda Lee Eager and what it has taken for her to succeed. The level of talent in this show, including the book and lyrics are phenomenally touching, and the story reaches down deep to a part that all of us can relate to. Following our dreams.

This vibrant, passionate, humorous, loving singer-songwriter will melt the hearts of all who come into her presence.

Beautiful voice, beautiful person, beautiful soul - Brenda is beautiful!
author: Avis Harrell - Self Contained
I first heard Brenda excel with Jerry Buttler on an Understanding Mellow. Usually when someone does something as great as that, the question is, How can you top yourself? Well in my opinion as a vocalist, Brenda has. Her voice put you in the zone. Each word, each note and each line she sings on this CD means something. That's a great singer to me. I've heard and worked with many great muscians and coaches and they will tell you, You either have it or you don't. Simon Caldwell would agree and this Cd proves it, ....Brenda Lee Eager's vocal performance touches your very core on this CD and SHE HAS IT! You should add it to your collection. I know I will!
