notes
Released in 2006, Little Girl Smile contains six solo bass tracks recorded at two of my live performances. All of my NLZ (No Loop Zone) rules still apply: There are no loops or overdubs on this cd.
Five of the six tunes are original compositions, and one is an arrangement of the McCartney/Lennon lullaby, I Will.
Track one, Little Girl Smile is a tune that I've been playing for several years.
Track two, Hirundo Rustica is a fun song, that on this particular occasion, sounds like a marimba. When I was reviewing this live recording, I thought it sounded cool, and was different enough to put it on the cd.
Track three, The Waiting is a simple medatation, or musical prayer that I think sounds like hope.
Track four, Root Beer Float is just me having fun on a summer evening.
Track five, I Will, is my arrangment of the Lennon & McCartney tune.
Track six, Cold Grape is one of my oldest tunes. I wrote it when I got my first six string bass. To me, this one sounds like youth.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me in my music these past several years. It is an honor to have played for you.
Thank you for listening.

Awesome!
author: Brian WatkinsOn his latest release, "Little Girl Smile", Brendan once again demonstrates his remarkable fingerwork via the heavy-gauge strings of his bass guitar with no loops and no overdubs. Although recorded live, the songs on this album are performed flawlessly, without annoying audience noise, and with awe-inspiring verve.
One Word: Contemplative
author: MilhouseThe music is spiritual, interesting, and challenging. Listening to the music encourages my mind to contemplate the divine. Thank you for the music!
