Album Notes

Jack Brent has been a devoted performer of the songs of George Gershwin since high school.

Receiving a book of Gershwin arrangements led to his love of the style and finesse of Gershwin the pianist and a life long commitment to perform the songs of Gershwin whenever and wherever possible.

His pianistic arrangements of Gershwin songs have led him to perform the George Gershwin Songbook from Boston, New York, and Washington, to the QE2, Paris and Cannes.

A student of pianist extraordinaire, Dorothea Freitag, a pupil of Nadia Boulanger.

Jack has devoted his life to the field of education as a teacher and to the field of music as a performer.

With the accomplishment of this first CD devoted to Gershwin, a second volume is in the works to continue to draw attention to the lesser known songs of George Gershwin.

This focus of Walden II Records is in keeping with the tradition of Walden Records, founded by Edward Jablonski under the patronage of Ira Gershwin.

Walden II Records will continue to draw attention to rare and lesser known works by other composers in future releases.

Still waiting!

This is a fantastic album, the pianist maintaining the lively Jazz Age spirit that Gershwin originally framed these enduring standards. But it's been more than six years since this CD was released! Where's Jack Brent's long-promised second volume containing Gershwin rarities?

I am a portrait photographer and I constantly play Jack's Gerwhwin CD during my photo sessions. It gets rave reviews from all of my clients, several of whom have wanted to know where they could buy it. With this new web-site it will be much easier to tell them where they can indeed purchase it! Great Gershwin interpretations.
