This CD was a unexpected surprise. I love 'The Nutcracker Suite' - this electronic version is truely fantastic. I hope that Brète will release other works. The test of a CD for me is that I play it - this one passes that test easily. Played from beginnig to end many times since it arrive. Very pleased to havre it in my collection.

I am very pleased with it and thank you (My first moog player was "Switched on Bach" on a cassette many years ago).

  • Absolutely one of the best...
    author: Poul Jensen

This have to be one of the best newer version of an old classic master piece, now all we need is a ballet made to the music.

  • Amazing! Down Right Brilliant!

Just when I had thought it had all been done, this CD comes along and blows me out of the water. It has to be the freshest sound on the Internet. Bravo!!!

  • Brete: the nutcracker electronic
    author: Erin May

Thought it was the best, the kids will be using parts of it for a more modern nutcracker in their high school production this year!!!!! About time ballet music had a "beat:.

  • it reminds me of john candy in....
    author: Kek

...In plains trains and automobiles where he's driving down the road, listening to a song with a cigar in his mouth and he starts playing the piano on the dash. it makes me think a lot of that. Really great driving music.

  • Infinitely entertaining

  • There is only one way to listen to this CD
    author: Pete King

And that is through a decent tube(valve)amp and speakers that can handle the AWESOME bass! I did and it is TERRIFIC! Found it by chance on soundclick.com and dearly wished I'd found it much sooner!! What's next, Brète?

  • Perfectly different!
    author: De Lyn

A perfectly different interpretation of a classic! This one won't put you to sleep and adds spark to the 'usual'.

  • A New Sound to Nutcracker
    author: Sebrina

A friend introduced me to the CD and my curiousity made me order it. I loved the cd; it was such a different version of Nutcracker. It had such an different sound, it was nice to hear another style to it. I will be listening to it each year.

  • very cool rendition of one of my favorite classical pieces
    author: Joy Bower

Brete posted an add on my son's band's,(Nerve Damage)myspace page. It looked interesting so I checked it out. I loved it and I had to have this CD for my holiday collection. Everyone who heard it liked it too.

  • Super Cool!

  • You've livened up our holidays!
author: Crista Smyth AKA Driftwood Junkie

Brete, thank you for turning our family on to your CD. We've been looking for new Christmas music and until now, haven't heard anything that clicks with us. 'Nutcracker Electronique' takes this classic suite and dresses it up with a retro sound, good beat, and with a pinch of humor thrown in.

I rrrreally liked the cd. It was a nice "change" from the norm. I intend on passing this along to many so they too can experience the sounds. Thanks!

  • Cool CD
    author: Michelle

A great take on one of my more favorite classical pieces. I haven't enjoyed alternate takes on classic music since the Switched-On Brandenburgs. My favorite is the Arabian Dance; I like the flow. The next favorite is the Sugar Plum Fairy; I like the darker "mood" of the piece. The entire album, including the Mozart pieces (I haven't given them a good audition yet) is great for spacing out and/or dancing. I'm good at both! Shout out!

  • nutcracking pleasure
    author: Alberto González (dorremifasol)

I like classical music very much, and electronic music as well. This CD is a nearly perfect fusion of both generes with some really spectacular moments that still give me goose bumps. Drums perhaps draw too much attention on some tunes. Well done Brète!

Brète's "Nutcracker Suite" is excellent and I really enjoyed listening to this CD. I am glad I bought it. The music is very well arranged and highly professional. I felt like I was on a boat ride around the castle in "Disneyland" with various Disney characters dancing around me. This is truly a wonderful christmas gift for our family. I look forward to Brète's future compositions.

  • Delightful!
    author: Jon T

Unique and familiar, a marvelous addition to my family's Christmas holiday. Disagree a bit with the other reviewer. Certainly Russian and Chinese Dance end a bit surprisingly -- just like the original score. But Overture and Flowers have exciting climaxes and Arabian's gentle closing leaves me quite peaceful. A very fun CD.

  • Nut cracka licious!
    author: Joseph Ferrerosa

Brete' I hear is quite an awesome musician. He completly blew me away with the GREAT electronica of the Nutcracker Suite. Two problems I found though. One I'll make short are the endings, they are not drawn out or climatic! They always end very staccato. Not personally my thing. Finally, Brete's main problem are the sound of the drums he plays them a lil notch too loud. But besides that an excellent CD!

There are times when you want something catchy and easy to listen to. This version of the Nut Cracker sounds just like that, catchy with familiarity, but different enough to keep your attention. It's a pleasent change to a holiday classic. Just about everyone will enjoy!
