"Leave it" is an a cappella recording in the classic gospel vein. Centered on the theme of "letting go and letting God" it's a great song when you need a little help reconnecting to your faith that "everything is gonna be alright" during tough times...

"Leave it" was recorded in the backwoods of the Santa Monica Mountains at Brett's studio located on the outskirts of the Malibu Phoenix Ranch, back in 2005. It was written during a rather tumultuous time where many big life things were "up in the air". It was centered on the old theme of "letting go and letting God" after you have done all you can do. He had actually written it several years earlier but never recorded it, for some reason during this time it kept popping up in his mind and he found himself singing it during the roughest times. One day, it just seemed right to let everything else go to record it.
The arrangement was very simple, paying homage to the great gospel artists and classics of years past. All of the parts were sung by Brett himself, and the booming percussion track was created by stomping on the resonant wooden floor and clapping. This was one of those rare sessions where everything just fell into place and felt like it was meant to be...
"Leave it to the Lord" is one of those songs that just feel like a timeless classic, it'll lift you out of a dark hole and make you feel like it's raining sunshine.
