Album Notes

Brett Ryan Stewart’s artistic influence came at age 7 with the untimely passing of his father. Urged by his mother to put his thoughts into written word, Stewart combined the inheritance of his older brother’s vinyl collection and the passion of writing to prompt a singular career goal… to one day make records.
After working for 6 years as a recording engineer, recording and producing over 30 different artists in the Philadelphia area, Stewart was set to complete his debut record, Necessary Lies.

Produced and Recorded at home by Stewart, Necessary Lies (2007):

* Received critical acclaim, including being hailed “A Sterling Debut from a talent worth watching!”, by Performing Songwriter Magazine

* Steady rotation on Sirius Satellite Radio, Internet Radio, European National Public Radio, KYRS, etc…

* Featured Artist spot on Nashville’s Lightening 100 WRLT.

* Two songs, “Yet Again” and “Face To Face” topped the charts on Neil Young’s “Living With War Today” website, holding the #1 & #2 position for over a month.

* The song “Appalachian Heartache” was featured by Heineken and Microsoft, and was successfully auctioned at SongVest.

a Sterling Debut from a talent worth watching!

Claiming classic influences that run the gamut from Neil Young’s Harvest to the Who’s Who’s Next, Brett Ryan Stewart carves an enviable imprint on this sterling debut. Stewart’s music navigates a road atlas of emotions, from the insistent pulse of opener “Yet Again (Politic)” to the half-whispered drift of “Needle & Spoon” to the nocturnal deliberation of “Closer.” Even within a single song, he reveals an ability to temper cloaked ruminations with sheer elation, as manifest in the sweeping refrain of “Don’t You Ever.” Lyrically, Stewart is equally agile. “I’m reaching out so I don’t cave in,” he declares on “Appalachian Heartache.” It’s a supple twist of wordplay from a talent worth watching.

I've sung with this guy. If he wasn't so good at it too I'd do it again. But he can play guitar and I can't, so all the girls like him better.
