Album Notes

Brian Adam Ant is the stage moniker for Brian Goldstein, a musician who started playing in bands at the age of 10. Now 23, he records his own music in the sunroom of his house in Baltimore. He writes all the songs and plays most of the instruments, and sometimes has his friends help him out. The music is reminiscent of folk-pop artists like Bob Dylan, Bonnie "Prince" Billy and Cass McCombs, retaining an acerbic and poetic lyrical quality while always remembering to put the melody at the forefront. Brian Adam Ant also plays the bass in Baltimore bands the Dirty Marmaduke Flute Squad and Evolve.

REVIEWS

Lyrically hypnotic, musically fascinating.

Brian has a unique style, both lyrically and musically. Trippy, laid-back, contemplative, and always intelligent, you can listen to this album over and over again and always find some new meaning in the lyrics, or hear a new little noise in the background of the lush soundscapes. But the songs are also accessible and catchy, and will stick in your head for days. Great stuff by a very talented up-and-coming singer/songwriter. Buy the album and tell all your friends that you were into him before he hit the big time.

if you're lucky it will steal your soul

This album stays in my CD player for weeks at a time. Brian Adam Ant's unique vocals and incredibly clever lyrics effect me more and more with each listen. Although sometimes his lyrics are hard to understand the first time around, reading the lyrics page provided is comparable to reading poets like Sylvia Plath. This album is perfect to listen to whether you are feeling happy or feeling blue. I would recommend it to anyone because if you put it on and really listen you can't help but feel the music not just in your ears, but in every part of you.

Syd Barrett meets the flaming lips for a cup of LSD-spiked java.

This cd explores the darker allies of Pikesville, Md. BAA's poignant and retrospective lyrics paint a visual on the canvas of your mind that is as detailed as Dali, yet as clear as Vodka. Staying true to the Low-Fi movement which was spearheaded by the republicans, BAA stakes no political claim, however could reach the masses if he had the right public relations. All in all, this album teeters on the edge of a sunday hammoc in the middle of a flaming lips concert. If they were opening for Gram parsons. Or Hank Williams.
