He began singing at the age of four in the church choir...
At home or in the car, he would listen to Jodeci, R. Kelly, Dru Hill, Joe, Boyz II Men, Blackstreet,Silk, Ginuwine, Usher, Maxwell, and others, as he longed to be an entertainer like them...
BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!!!!
Same ol' story, you've heard it before! But what you really want to know is:
What makes a person become so obsessed with making music for the masses? This ain't no karaoke or glitz and glamorous living- this is really hard work with alot of amateurs and scandalous people that you have to deal with!
"I sing EVERYDAY!! Even when I'm not supposed to, when I wake up, at a restaurant- everywhere. I can't help it. I turn on MTV and BET, and see people doing what I know I can do. I'm extremely creative (without drugs and alcohol- step ya game up son!), and I get tired of listening to records that have the same lyrics put to new beats. People need to stop trying to be like the next man and just be. It's as if I HAVE to do this- I can't stop!"
Hence the title of his debut album, "MY RHYTHM, MY BLUES, MY RULES." Brian Alexander has dealt with so much unprofessionalism living in a city with no toursim and no market for R&B/Urban music, that he makes sure that at least his music will be created of his own concepts and production. His label producer Scott Dogg schooled him on fundamentals of music production and B.A. ran with it to create a seventeen-track debut album, along with a bonus track.
"My Rhythm, My Blues, My Rules" shows his creativity and talent as a songwriter. Standout tracks include "YOU CAN DO IT", "WHAT LOVERS DO", "NOBODY BETTER FOR YOU", and "CONFESSION OF A CHEATER". All of the songs were initially and completely written without paper; the instrumentals chosen selectively by B.A. himself; the production, up until the last song, had to have his executive approval before they were mastered.
"Living where I live (in Wichita, Kansas population 400,000), I've learned to not rush my material. My fans need to know that I don't intend to give them poor quality music. This album is better than anything I've ever done before it, and the next album will be 100% better than this one... I have to stay true to myself, though. It will always be about my rhythm, my blues, my rules."
