Hailing from the “Valley of the Sun”, this Phoenix native has been referred to as one of “Phoenix’s best kept secrets.” Briana Scott began singing as a child at the Emmanuel C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of the late Bishop Felton King. She went on to become a lead singer in a number of choirs and groups throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area as well as nationally (C.O.G.I.C. Recording Choir) under Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, Phoenix Mass Choir under Eddie James, workshop choirs under Jeffrey LaValley and Keith Pringle. Briana never dreamed or anticipated that her gift of song would one day be recognized around the world.
God has birthed a new sound of Praise & Worship. It’s a sound relative to every listener that connects the heart of God’s people back to Him. Briana sings with a soft, calming presence that profoundly affects the atmosphere. According to Peggy Oliver of Gospelcity.com, “Briana has a fascinating voice capable of exceptional song interpretation and a smart sense of arrangements, especially on the worship medley.” Briana’s music is inspired by scripture (Psalm 57:9-11), meant to exalt the Lord and encourage worship. It sooths the soul, inspires the heart and strengthens the spirit. When asked about the objective of her ministry, she responded, “I want my music to put people in a posture of worship.”
As a new recording artist, Briana burst onto the scene with the release of her debut album, “While I’m Here”. The project was released under Briana’s own label, Waterbrooke Music (Psalm 42:1), and is distributed by Central South Distribution. Some of the projects most prominent songs include: While I’m Here, and of course the worship medley featuring Here I Am To Worship and I Give You My Heart, penned by Tim Hughes and Hillsong’s Reuben Morgan is a seamless arrangement that leads to a throne room experience. Her versatility is shown as she appeals to Latin America with her bilingual recording of Honor, written by Singer/Songwriter, Eddie James (Karen Wheaton Ministries). Let’s not forget her original song Clean Heart honored by Billboard as an exceptional composition and Fill This Place written by Keith Johnson of El Paso, Texas which has remained on Top 20 Gospel Charts for more than 32 weeks, originally debuting at No. 1. Briana is impacting Traditional Radio (Contemporary Christian & Gospel Formats), XM Satellite Radio, Cable TV’s Music Choice Radio and Internet Radio. She is really creating a buzz in the industry. Briana recently taped a segment for the Gospel of Music with Jeff Majors show where she sang before a live audience in Hollywood, CA. Additionally, Briana is a Stellar and Dove Award nominee.
Briana has been asked to appear on TBN as well as conferences and concerts around the world. She was recently afforded the opportunity to minister as a guest soloist for highly revered pastors Bishop Charles Blake (West Angeles C.O.G.I.C. - Los Angeles), Bishop Ernestine Reems-Dickerson (Center of Hope Community Church – Oakland), and Pastor E.V. Hill, II (Calvary Temple Pentecostal Church - in North Hollywood). Briana had the awesome privilege of ministering with: Dr. Mattie Moss Clark and The Clark Sisters, Tramaine Hawkins, Sandy Patti, Krystal Lewis, Kim Burrell, Israel Houghton, Avalon, Jeff Deyo and a host of others.
Briana currently serves as a worship leader at First Institutional Baptist Church in Phoenix, AZ where her pastor is the dynamic Dr. Warren H. Stewart Sr. In addition to being an anointed psalmist and lyricist; Briana is a wife, mother, teacher and student of the word. “The word of God is my song;” therefore, “Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed” (Psalm 119:80).
Andre Mullen of The Christian Pulse writes:
While the gospel industry has its fair share of what many would consider “superstars,” there are those few artists who have such anointed and compelling voices that they belong in a class by themselves. One of these amazing minstrels of the Gospel is Briana Scott.
Briana may be an independent artist, but she has captured people with her major presentation. With her various national television appearances and her debut album entitled While I’m Here, Briana demonstrates that her gift is submitted to God and because of that, He has exalted her. While the CD has several really powerful songs, two songs – “Brand New Day” and “While I'm Here” – send a strong message of faith and determination. “Brand New Day” gets the album moving in the praise direction. The up-tempo cut, laced with rich background vocals, boasts the joy that comes from realizing that God’s mercies are new every morning and that He is always worthy of praise. The testimonial “While I'm Here” takes the listener to the throne room. Backed with a simple acoustic guitar, Briana makes it known that she will worship the Father no matter what.
Briana Scott makes a strong statement that while she’s here and has the opportunity, she’s intent on connecting the listener with the God of grace. Her debut album, While I’m Here, is a must-have.
