From the moment the first selection is played, the composer's music engages you. You remain entranced listening to the oriental variations in Euterpe, day dream of the Louisiana bayous in the Thorntree suite, and float away to boyhood dreams as the soprano fills your soul with
sweet melodies in Les Chenes Jumeaux. The CD ends with the very passionate Divertissement which filled me with a yearning for more of Mr. Foreman's music.

Some things I like on this disc: The lyrical sweetness and occasional wistfulness of “Euterpe,” somehow reminiscent of Ravel or Poulenc... The golden-toned vocalizing and pianistic evocation of remembered wonder in “Les Chênes Jumeaux”... The jaunty, tripping Cantilène and the nimble, quick-witted (and charmingly titled) Badinage, both in the “Thorntree” guitar suite... A quality of dash and hauteur (of pluck, to risk a pun) in the last of the Six Preludes for Guitar, ably rendered by that veteran of the North Texas music scene, Carlo Pezzimenti...

An excellent collection of solo guitar and ensemble pieces.
"Les Chenes Jumeaux" for voice and piano is beautiful and
nostalgic. Highly recommended!
